No "Food Hangovers"

I have been doing low carb for years, and seriously after Bariatric by-pass surgery. When I slip up, like at the holidays, I can feel it the next day as soon as I step out of bed. It takes a bit to get back on the wagon but it is always worth it!

I am celebrating 1year of low carb style

This is the best lifestyle; I don't count calories anymore because I am full and satisfied. I have lost 20kgs in a year and doing very well healthy wise. I eat meat, fish, chicken and lots of fresh vegetables with oil and butter; so tasty!

No more wine cravings!

Best thing for me on low carb, in addition to feeling so good, is that I no longer crave alcohol; it simply doesn't "go with" low carb the way that bread, crackers, pizza etc do! Thank you Dr Atkins!

Only way to go

I have followed the low carb way of eating for years, it has helped me stabilize my blood sugar, lower my BP to a healthy range and lose weight. Thanks to Dr. Atkins

Obsesions under control

Before Low Carb, I was totally obsessed with food. I could be eating a wonderful meal and was planning my next meal. I don't do that any more. I eat wonderful meals and am no longer obsessed, or hungry.

Blood Glucose and cholesterol are GREAT!

After discovering I had diabetes, I researched and found this is the only way of eating that works in keeping my "numbers" in a healthy range.. Doing the diet they recommended only required me to take more and more medication. However, with this low carb lifestyle, I no longer take medication at all, feel great, look great and my "numbers are better than ever!

no obesssions

Yeah, I also love that I'm almost never hungry. I don't think about food every minute of the day. If I get stuck somewhere and miss a meal it's no big deal. I've lost over 100 pounds (though alas, still more to go which are NOT coming off). Whole natural food is so yummy and satisfying.

Way of life

I have eaten low carb for 6 years now and I would never go back to my old habits. I did it for weight loss,had no health problems and I still weigh the same and still have no health problems and I am 71 years old. Lucky? no, it is choosing the right low carb foods and never getting hungry. Thank you Dr. Atkins and all low carb support along the way. I am 5ft.8in and weigh 145 lbs.. I lost 40 initial lbs. 6 years ago.

Eating real food

Low carbing is so easy and enjoyable. I love not having to eat "diet food". I don't use any low carb specialty products. I just eat fresh, real food and feel better than I've ever felt. Losing weight came as a great bonus.

Favorite Things about Low-Carb Eating

I love steak and chicken and the 'legal' veggies, so this is a great way to eat, but the best part is knowing when those pounds come creeping back on, I can go right back to the induction part and they are gone!!!

Energy in my senior years

I have more energy since low-carbing than I had when I was much younger. Now in my seriously senior years, I still surprise many 'youngsters' by my ability to keep up. My weight loss only happened in the first 14 months or so and not much since, but my HDL reading had so improved a few months ago that I was advised by my doc not to return for 3 years. It is because of that, and the fact that I am eating a good variety of healthy foods daily, confirms for me that low carb is the way to go for me, for always. Even when I slip up and let some carbs back in, (that happens now and then) I am aware that this is a temporary deviation from my 'real' way of life, and I can soon get back on track. Also, as Gracie mentioned, on other eating plans I was constantly thinking of the next meal - what can I eat, when can i eat it, etc. That is all a thing of the past. For that reason alone low carbing would be worthwhile, even without the other benefits we have all experienced.

Feel like a kid again!

I have been low carb for 2 years now and have lost 70 pounds and kept it off for over a year, very stable. I eat about 30 to 50 grmas of carbs per day, and feel that my body likes this. My acid reflux is gone, blood sugar is normal again, triglycerides, cholesterol, all normal. Have gone off Crestor now and best of all my depression has lifted. I've adopted a very active lifestyle, walking, yoga, working out, and previously arthritic joints no longer are hurting. This lifestyle ( it is no longer a diet ) just feels so right for my body. Cooking has become a pleasure and I am enjoying life again.

Flavor!

I don't know how I survived on all the diets for so many years. No fat, no flavor! And with no fat there was always hunger. This is AWESOME!!!
