When a reader asked me my opinion of the Kimkins Diet last summer, I had no idea what I was dipping my toe into! Here's the latest, for those who are following this. A report of the court despositions of Heidi Diaz, the developer of of the Kimkins Diet, have been made public by the attorney in charge of the class action lawsuit in progress. Some highlights:
  • Diaz states that assuming multiple identities in her company (and lying about her own) was a "creative outlet" and she saw nothing wrong with it.
  • She says that she was unaware of medical problems caused by her diet, in spite of documented emails sent to her by her own adminstrators when they became concerned, as well as statements from Kimkins members on the forums on the site.
  • She admitted to passing a false rumor that Jessica Alba was using the Kimkins Diet.
  • She admitted to stealing photos from other Web sites and making up weight loss stories of the women in the photos.
  • She admitted telling Kimkins staff that the company did not have any money, despite the fact that the company had over one million dollars in liquid assets.
  • "A decision by the California Attorney General’s office concerning criminal prosecution is purportedly pending."

For More Information: A full report from John Tiedt, the attorney, in seven parts, is on the blog of Becky, former Kimkins administrator. To see all seven posts in order, start here, and click on "Newer Post" in the bottom left-hand corner of each post.
