What is the purpose of your blog?
As a practicing physician, I am well aware of the higher incidence of heart disease, stroke, dementia, and premature death suffered by people with type 2 diabetes. The traditional Mediterranean diet is well-known for reversing these trends.
I started the blog in April, 2009, to explore adaptation of the Mediterranean diet - typically rich in carbohydrates - for my patients with type 2 diabetes. Diabetics, of course, have difficulty handling carbohydrates. So I've had to reduce the carbohydrate load of the Mediterranean diet while (hopefully!) retaining most of the healthy components of the Mediterranean diet.
The first fruit of my labor is the very low-carb Ketogenic Mediterranean Diet, available free at the blog. More carbs can be added to the diet gradually as directed in the Diabetic Mediterranean Diet, which is also available free.
These are works in progress that will be modified as scientific knowledge is discovered. Readers are encouraged to check back periodically for updates.
