The Sonoma Diet

The Sonoma Diet

by Connie Guttersen, Ph.D

Summary:

Fruits are reintroduced, as is a glass of wine with a meal, if desired. Grain servings are raised to 3-4 per day. A greater variety of vegetables is allowed. There are also more calories in this phase. Focus is on savoring food, eating power foods, and discovering flavors.

What You Eat:

Breakfast is unchanged, although I noticed in the menus a fat serving is often added. Lunch and dinner add fruit and grains, though since the plate size is the same, vegetable servings are smaller, and there is slightly less protein food on the plate.

How Much To Eat:

The nine-inch plate for lunch in dinner is now divided into fourths, with one quarter each for protein, grains, vegetables, and fruits. The snack is a little larger.

Carb Level:

Although carbs are not specifically counted, the Wave Two menus I analyzed had about 70-95 grams of usable carbohydrate.

Length of Phase:

Until desired weight has been achieved.

Goals:

1) To expand food choices, and learn to make wise ones.
2) To continue weight loss at a slower rate.
3) To continue to eat the types and amounts of carbs that limit cravings and weight gain.
