Definition: Apolipoprotein B is a protein which is part of LDL cholesterol. Although its function is poorly understood, the levels of apolipoprotein B are correlated with a genetic condition (familial combined hyperlipidemia) which is correlated with a higher risk for heart disease. There is some evidence that a reduced carbohydrate diet can help lower the risk to such individuals.
