What is the Low-Carb Cruise? A bunch of low-carbers join a cruise as a group (this year on the Carnival Magic). On the "at sea" days we have a conference room where we hear researchers and authors talk about topics of interest to us. Otherwise, we sit together at dinner, have a cocktail party, and congregate together to enjoy fun and conversation and some of the entertainments on the ship. And we're always free to do whatever we want...in the ports there will be opportunities for lots of different excursions, from just walking around and shopping, to tours, hikes, snorkeling, ziplining...you name it.
In addition, the night before we leave there is a dinner at the hotel where many of us will be staying, and Tom Naughton will once again roast our speakers. He is SO funny!
When and where is this year's cruise? The ship leaves from Galveston, TX on May 5th, and returns on the 12th. The ports this year are Cozumel, Belize, and Isla Roatan, in the Western Caribbean.
Speakers: Our three days of speakers will include Robb Wolf, excellent speaker and author of The Paleo Solution, and Jay Wortman, the researcher who did the wonderful study followed in the documentary My Big Fat Diet. Check out the whole speaker roster.
Cost: Cabins start at $866 per person for a two-person cabin, plus a $75 seminar fee. This includes everything for the whole week -- food, lots of non-stop entertainment options, and what can't be bought -- interesting conversation! (I wrote about this in my synopsis of last year's cruise.)
The Best Part: Fun, smart people to hang out with for a week. (Plus for me, my husband, Mr. "Why Would I Ever Want to go on a Cruise" Dolson, will be coming along!)
More Info: The Web site for the cruise is lowcarbcruiseinfo.com. If you have more questions, one option is to join the Low-Carb Cruise Facebook Group. For questions specific to booking your cruise, email Debbie@foxtravel.net, or call the numbers on the Web site.
