Soy - Benefit or Danger?

Soy is a frequently-discussed topic in our Low Carb Diet Forum, and it's one of the few issues that seems to inspire a lot of passionate debate. It's really no wonder, as there has been a lot of research on the topic, and the results are not always consistent. Every few years, I delve into the research on soy to see if I can get an idea of the possible benefits and dangers of soy foods and the direction the research is going. Last week I updated my knowledge in the area. Although refinements in our knowledge of soy are proceeding, to me it seems to be moderating. Some of the initial research on promising benefits seems to have been overblown, but on the other hand, the warnings about the dangers of soy mostly haven't born out on repeated study either.
