Low-Carb on Vacation
I just got back from spending a week with family. Of course, travel these days NEVER seems to go smoothly! When on our way across the country, our second flight was canceled due to "no crew". I kid you not! So we unexpectedly had to spend an extra night en route and lost almost a day of chatting and giggling with my mom and sister. :-(
Unexpected situations such as this can really derail a diet, but I had some emergency supplies with me, plus at this point I can find my way around almost any menu. While I was "back home", I did have a few higher-carb treats, although careful to observe some rules. I had, on two occasions, a cob of sweet fresh corn that was unbelievably delicious. I had a small scoop of ice cream when we celebrated by father's 85th birthday. And I had one piece of chocolate. Otherwise, it was low carb all the way.
Check out my Low-Carb Travel Guide to learn some of my tried-and-true strategies.
