Low-Carb Fruit

fruitSummer is here, and with it the stores and farmers markets fill with tempting fruit. How much fruit, if any, should you eat on a low-carb diet? It depends on the amount of sugar in the fruit, and the amount of sugar your individual body can tolerate. I've recently written carbohydrate profiles for each of the fruits you're likely to run across. I'm still working on the dried fruits -- mainly you need to know that they all have a lot of sugar!

A piece of great news about sugar in fruit is that many of the fruits with the most nutrition and anti-oxidants, such as berries, have the lowest amounts of sugar.

On all these lists the names of the fruit are linked to the Carb Profiles for each fruit. The profiles include carb counts, glycemic index and load, nutritional information, and links to low-carb recipes when available:
