New Health Tools from About.com

Sunday April 22, 2007
doctorIf you've been roaming around this site and the rest of the About.com Health Sites lately, you may have noticed some new features! These tools have been added in an attempt to help inform you about your health and help you manage your health care.

1) UCompare HealthCare - This tool helps you find physicians in your area and to get information about them such as their education, specialty licenses, and any disciplinary action that may have taken place against them. In addition, there are tools to help you find health care facilities such as where to have a mammogram, infertility clinics, and nursing homes near you.

2) Symptom Checker - On most of the pages of this site (such as this one), you will now find this tool about half way down on the right. You can click on a part of the body where you are having a symptom, and get advice about what may be causing it, and recommendations about what to do.

3) Calorie-Count - At the bottom of most pages on the site is a box where you can enter a food. This takes you to Calorie-Count.com where you can find out nutritional information about the food, including calorie and carb counts. This tool has been available for a few months, but soon we will be introducting a related resource called Calorie Connection - I'll let you know when it is available.
