By now, you have probably heard some negative things about fructose, or at least about high fructose corn syrup. And yet, fructose got its name because fruit tends to be the biggest natural source of fructose, and fructose has the lowest glycemic index of all the sugars. Sounds healthy, right? But with all the added sugars in the average diet, fructose overload has our bodies yelling "help!" in the form of weight gain, high triglycerides, and possibly risks for other diseases.
